PINKIE PROMISE Holding Breath: Timing the Inspection
Use breath during the close look
- Timing: In PINKIE PROMISE, use the hold-breath interaction inside cover when Pinkie approaches or peeks at the hiding place.
- Meter: Release after she looks away instead of holding through the entire wait. Keeping the control held can exhaust the breath meter.
Save the hold for Pinkie’s approach
First get into a usable hiding place. Once the breath interaction is available, watch the inspection and use the control for the close look rather than starting a long hold as soon as the countdown begins.
Release between inspections
The meter is the reason to avoid holding without a break. Release when Pinkie looks away and stay ready for the next close inspection. There is no need to guess a fixed number of seconds when the game gives you the character’s approach and the meter to watch.
Treat the breath action as one part of hiding. It does not replace entering cover, and it is not a promise of safety regardless of what the scene is doing. The search-survival guide covers the warning and the return to work around this narrower timing task.
Keep your input matched to the visible prompt
Use the control the hiding interaction currently displays on your device. A movement key used during the railway chase does not establish the breath binding. If your input seems to do nothing, check whether you are actually in the cover interaction before repeatedly pressing another action.
The breath-control troubleshooting guide separates an unavailable prompt from an early hold or an exhausted meter. That is more useful than changing several inputs and timing choices at once.
Choose the next improvement
If the hold makes sense but you keep reaching cover late, work on the route to a nearby hiding place. The hiding-spot comparison prioritizes ordinary bakery cover and explains why a scene-specific bed is not a general destination for every search.
