The characters introduce different parts of the journey

Pinkie Pie is the host waiting at the destination. Her tour introduces Sugarcube Corner, the party preparations and the private room she tells you to avoid. Gummy is the alligator she introduces in the bakery. These encounters give each location a character connection instead of making the chapter a sequence of unrelated rooms.

Why the party tasks matter to the mood

Preparation keeps asking you to do ordinary things in an increasingly uncomfortable place. You are still helping with a party, but the host also interrupts your work and imposes rules about leaving, private spaces and food.
